October 15th 2008
It was a bit of a cold, damp night but that didn't stop the turn out from being great (as usual). We had a great crowd in who were well up for a good night. All On Red performed a great starter set and as usual our M.C. Stuart gave Radiohead's Creep a thoroughly good spanking.

The crowd were eager for comedy so it was on with the proceedings without further ado. It's not easy being a stand up, let alone being funny in another language. Giada Garofolo achieves this and uses her outsider status with subtlety and good humour to poke fun at the Brits and ultimately herself. Watch out for her.

Next up was Terry Fromont who was a really likeable chap with some strong matterial and we're sure we'll be seeing more of him again soon, the corwd were just warming to him and his time ran out.

Tania Edwards is a new act with a great future here's a little poem as to why any bookers reading this should have her at their club.
She is sweet as sugared honey
Importantly she's darned funny
Go see her "rock the mic"
For her humour you will appreciate immensely due to it's multi layered approach with a soft cuddly exterior but containing an inner core of bile all used to hilarious effect.
We enjoyed Tania's contribution immensely.

After a short interval Pete Park-Walker was our first act if the second set. A very affable chap with a nice comfortable style with a nice surreal overtone. Shambolically funny in a lovely personable way, strangely it's like watching a building you love immensely crumble to pieces over the years then slide gradually over a cliff in a gale, somewhere in Wales. Whilst onlookers stand, stare and laugh openly at the spectacle. Very enjoyable

For a small nation Ireland doesn't half generate a huge percentage of the world's comedians. Ryan McDonnell is the latest addition to the Craic Pack, another swift minded, silver tongued funster from the Emerald Isle. A man with the charm and comic timing of someone who's tongued the Blarney Stone. Watch out for Ryan he's certainly only going to get better, to be sure, to be sure.

Before our second break we were then treated to a great set by Joel Dommett. Here are some facts about Joel Dommett. Joel has size 7 feet, he's contemplated joining a "Gay Gym", he likes Transformers and, oh yeah he's damned funny. With a relaxed, energetic style Joel wins the audience over in seconds flat with charm that is 3/5ths Julian Clary (sans acid tongue) and 2/5ths "child in a sweet shop" wonderment and surprise. Joel is teetering on the edge of being a headline act, we at the Gag Factory hope he slips off and falls headlong into it soon as we want him back for more!

We then had a quick splash n dash break before the headline act for the evening Keith Platt. In Keith's own words, it was a LEGENDERY NIGHT! If you want a guaranteed banker of an act, someone who's going to do a killer set book Keith Platt. No ifs, buts or maybes Keith is a rich seam of comedy gold in the slag heap of life. In the hands of Howard Smith this character produces a stream of bile, hate and spite masterfully transformed into gag after invective laden gag on the British national identity and values. Even riffing off the band, and slamming the drummer, all to hugely funny effect. If you need a peg to hang the act on, and Keith would hate the comparison, he's sort of a reality tv, warts n all version of Victor Meldrew (but would probably slap Victor silly in a fight) Keith is  totally original in tone, meter, style and material. You want a comedy headliner? Talk to Howard Smith because Keith Platt might tell you to eff off ya silly [email protected]@rd .

So we then packed up and went home and are already looking forward to our next show, hopefully you'd be there!
